AYA supports opportunities for student success through creative approaches that support our mission and vision. Our goals for 2021-2022 include ongoing fundraising for our programs, as well as funds to support the restructuring of our organization as we continue to deal with the effects of the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.
AYA Goals
$200,000 for Programs
Funds will support the STEM Workshop, After School STEAM Workshops, and the Art & Design Thinking Camps:
We provide after-school enrichment including the MESA program, Robotics, Visual & Media Arts workshops, Arts & Culture workshops, Design Challenges, and 3D Design Workshops, among others. We also provide full day school break and summer camps for youth.

$15,000 for Our STEAM Makerspace
Funds to equip, expand, and maintain our Makerspace located in the Mayfair community.
The MakerSpace provides after school and summer enrichment programs for youth, family activities, design challenges, teacher support and resources, and collaborative community programming to the students and families of Alum Rock.

$10,000 for the Youth Leader Program
Funds to maintain and expand our Youth Leader program where teens develop pre-employment and leadership skills, while also building confidence as they lead activities at STEAM Workshops implemented throughout San José. The program provides opportunities for youth to engage with larger rings of their community beyond their immediate neighborhoods.

Provide up to 20 grants annually in the following areas:

$50,000 for the Foundation
Funds to support the foundation as we improve our administrative infrastructure while continuing to support the development of future initiatives, family and community activities, and other creative approaches that support our mission and vision.
