We are very proud to be celebrating our 10th year of the Art & Design Thinking Camp! The camp has grown from a 1-week pilot in 2013 to the 6-week program being implemented this summer. The camp has evolved over the years – adding skill badges to document learning, having a Maker Journal that campers can personalize to capture their journey, adding Youth Leaders (campers who have aged out of the camp program) as volunteer assistants, and providing Youth Leaders with the opportunity to be a Peer Instructors at the camp. This year we are excited to add Paid Youth Leader Interns to our model. The interns are High School students that are active AYA Youth Leaders. They receive support in the application & interview process as well as guidance on proper workplace habits. They are assigned to various camp activities in order to gain experience in a variety of tasks and operations. Interns work directly with campers and participate in staff collaboration and daily debrief. We are looking forward to continuing and expanding on this new component of the program in future years.
